Wildlife

Bird enthusiasts marvel at the multiple array of birds that inhabit the area. The Black Capped Vireo, a highly endangered and protected bird, has been banded and observed on the ranch. Management for this species is meticulously followed because of its fragile ties to the environment.

The Vermilion Fly Catcher is a must-see and the magnificent Bald Eagle winters at Walnut Creek Ranch. The ranch itself was cited by the National Audubon Society as an Important Bird Area (IBA).

The American Horned Lizard can be seen on the ranch, and real Texas Walnut Trees grow along the banks of the creek, which snakes its way across the ranch and draws wildlife in to feed.
White Tail Deer, Blue and Bob White Quail, Wild Turkey and a host of other wildlife abound on the ranch.  Considerable time and resources are devoted to preserving the natural habitat for the welfare of these natural and prolific animals.
